What better way to shower Dad with your love than with a great DIY Beard Balm Recipe for Father's Day! This recipe is one of my favorites that I plan on making and sending to my Dad, too. The best part is that this recipe smells AMAZING!

Any time you make something for anyone it’s important remember a few things. The first is to make sure you always wear gloves, a mask, and goggles. If possible, make sure you have fresh clothes on or a lab coat. These not only protect you from over exposure to essential oils, but from accidents that are often unforeseen even in the most practiced of formulators. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) also protects your loved ones from you.

Additionally, it’s extremely important to make sure you sterilize your workspace prior to gathering your ingredients. You can use isopropyl alcohol (70%) and spray your counters – don’t wipe it though. Spray it and let it set for a few minutes. Any excess can then be wiped.

Any dishes and equipment you use should also be sterilized. For this recipe that means your glass stir rod, tempered glass bowl/jar, and tins. Some formulators, such as the Soap Queen recommend using a 5% solution of water and bleach to sterilize.

Now, go get to sterilizing and grab your PPE. After that you’re ready to start making your first gift for Father’s Day!

DIY Beard Balm for Father's Day

Weigh ingredients.

Combine the all the ingredients (except the essential oil) in a tempered glass bowl/jar and melt ingredients in the microwave using 30 second bursts. Stir in between each 30 second burst. It should take about 1.5 minutes to two to melt all the ingredients.

TIP: Use a glass stir rod for stirring as it will clean much easier!

Remove from heat and add Scotch Pine while stirring continuously.

Pour into tins and place the lid on immediately. Set aside to cool.

As soon as you’ve poured your beard balm into the tin(s), wipe out the tempered bowl/jar with a paper towel. Immediately add hot soapy water to it and clean it.

If you allow it to cool, it will be much harder to wipe out and clean later due to the beeswax and cocoa butter.

Also, NEVER dispose of excess ingredients into your sink. Dispose of them in your trash or keep them in a small container to use later.

I hope you enjoy making this wonderful smelling beard balm like I did! Let me know your thoughts below!
