Lip balms are a great way to moisturize and protect your lips. Sometimes the mint flavors get old though. If you want something that smells amazing and will act as a great protective barrier for your lips, you need to try this recipe!
This recipe is designed to do just that with just a few organic ingredients your lips will love. The best part is that it is quick and easy to make!
IMPORTANT HOUSEKEEPING NOTES:
Any time you make something for anyone it’s important remember a few things. The first is to make sure you always wear gloves, a mask, and goggles. If possible, make sure you have fresh clothes on or a lab coat. These not only protect you from over exposure to essential oils, but from accidents that are often unforeseen even in the most practiced of formulators. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) also protects your loved ones from you.
Additionally, it’s extremely important to make sure you sterilize your workspace prior to gathering your ingredients. You can use isopropyl alcohol (70%) and spray your counters – don’t wipe it though. Spray it and let it set for a few minutes. Any excess can then be wiped.
Any dishes and equipment you use should also be sterilized. For this recipe that means your glass stir rod, tempered glass bowl/jar, and tins. Some formulators, such as the Soap Queen recommend using a 5% solution of water and bleach to sterilize.
Now, go get to sterilizing and grab your PPE. After that you’re ready to start making your first gift for Father’s Day!
