Who loves a great lip balm? I know I do! Did you know they're actually quite easy to make and require only two basic ingredients? That's right!
Here, you'll find a very easy and fun DIY Vanilla Lip Balm recipe you can use any time of year.
This recipe is a two part recipe. As mentioned in my previous blog post, CO2 Vanilla is considered safe to ingest, however because I want to enlist the help of my four year old in this project, we are going to create an infusion using vanilla bean pods and jojoba wax.
Infusions are very easy to make! They just take a few minutes, and depending on the products used, can be made in large batches and kept for long periods of time. In general, they are great in skincare products!
To begin, make sure you have all of these ingredients:
Infusion
To make your vanilla infusion, simply add three to four vanilla bean pods to an eight ounce glass jar and fill the jar with seven ounces of jojoba, and let it sit for about a few weeks. It does not need to be in the light or the dark, it just needs to sit somewhere it will not be concerned by little hands! After a few weeks, remove the vanilla bean pods, and you’re left with the most amazing smelling vanilla infused jojoba for your skincare products.
If you want to use another type of oil, feel free to do so, but note many other oils do not have a very long shelf life. I recommend using Jojoba wax for this reason with this infusion.
