Aroma: Deep and warm undertones from this oil fill the nose with an exotic earthiness and a hint of spice. While most patchouli essential oils tend to overwhelm me, this one is quite lovely and almost soft. The resinous and woody aroma is absolutely stunning.
Personal notes: Although I do not enjoy patchouli on its own, it makes a wonderful fixative when blending top note heavy oils. Many of my clients have come to enjoy it because of my popular Balance blend.
Safety Data: This is essential oil is considered non-toxic and generally safe if used properly. May inhibit blood clotting with certain drugs. Use caution if pregnant and avoid if breastfeeding.
Usage ideas: Create your own antifungal blend for topical application.
- 9 drops of Patchouli
- 8 drops of Tea tree
- 7 drops of Lemongrass
- 1 ounce of Tamanu oil
Emotional/Energetic Qualities: Can be balancing for an energetic mind, reduces nervous strain, allows for deeper breathing, can be arousing for sensuality.
Recommended applications: Diffuse, topical application using safe dilution ratios, steam inhalation, inhaler.
- If taken orally, potential concerns exist for anticoagulant medication, major surgery, ulcer, hemophilia, and other bleeding disorders.
- This essential oil may have drug interactions with anticoagulant medications and inhibit blood clotting.
- Do not place on broken skin.
