Common Name: Ponderosa Pine Hydrosol
Botanical name: Pinus ponderosa
Origin: AZ, USA.
Distilled: May 5th, 2019
Shelf Life: 1-2 years
Notes about the distiller and grower:
The Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa) was harvested using a collection permit from the USDA Forestry Service in the Tonto National Forest at about 5,500 feet in elevation in September of 2018. The plant material collected consisted of full trunks that was cut into small pieces. The small pieces of Ponderosa Pine were then stored in a cool dark tote for a few months before distilling.
The distilling process was a steam distillation that included almost 48 hours of soaking prior to distillation. The hydrosol distillation took about six hours using a very low temperature to complete with a yield of 10 mls of essential oil and 70 ounces of hydrosol.
Aroma: The aroma of this hydrosol is fresh, crisp, and lively with sweet resinous and woodsy notes. It has a richness that I have not encountered from the hydrosols distilled from just the needles that is absolutely beautiful.
Hydrosols can be used for a wide range of purposes as toners, tonics, energizers, and other natural functions.
- Use as room spray
- Can be used after emotional trauma
- Use as a skin tonic
- Use in cool compresses to soothe joint concerns
- Use to uplift your spirits
- Use as a counter cleaner
To get the most use of your hydrosols, I recommend storing them in cold, dark places or refrigerators. The average shelf life is approximately 1-2 years for this hydrosol. The shelf life can be extended if stored properly.
This hydrosol is packaged in a clear glass 2 or 4 ounce bottle with an atomizer so it is ready for immediate use. All 8 ounce bottles are packaged in a cobalt blue PET plastic with a disc cap to avoid potential breakage during transit.
