Latin Name: Mentha spicata
Aroma Profile: It is fresh with hints of floral notes and does not have the usual harsh carvone content that I have grown accustomed to with most commercially distilled spearmints.
Blends with: Basil, Black Pepper, Black Spruce, Blood Orange, Roman Chamomile, Eucalyptus Blue Gum, Cypress, Ginger, Ho Wood, Lavender, Lime, Sweet Marjoram, Mandarin Petitgrain, Peppermint, Petitgrain Bigarade, Sweet Orange, Scotch Pine, Rosemary ct cineole, and Ylang Ylang.
Energetic Qualities: Great for stress and depression, uplifts and stimulates the mind to combat fatigue, awakens, refreshes.
Recommended applications: Diffuse only 1-2 drops with other nourishing type oils as it can irritate mucous membranes, topical application using safe dilution ratios.
Aromatherapist notes: I am not a mint person. I normally find them “ok” but am not a fan by any means. This particular spearmint has me smitten! It is great in cool compresses to help keep one cool during the summer heat.
About the Distiller: The distiller of this spearmint and my now available peppermint is a fourth generation farmer and distiller. He only harvests once a year and focuses on quality rather than quantity. He currently has about 40 acres his family grows spearmint on specifically for the essential oil - this makes him a very small production compared to many others. He is not quite an artisan distiller but definitely doesn’t fit into the normal commercially producing distiller realm either. He has a background in chemistry and is all too familiar and saddened by the industry’s current issues with adulteration of mints. Like me, when it comes to essential oils he believes that if you add ANYTHING to a batch that wasn’t there after distillation, it is considered adulterated. This includes the addition of other batches or standardization as a few other companies offer. With everything I have learned about this distiller, his farm, and his ethics, I am pleased to be able to offer such a quality spearmint from someone with great ethics.

Safety Data: Has a low risk for skin or mucous membrane irritation, use diluted. Due to its ketone percentages, should be used with caution near resting periods as it can be stimulating.

This product conforms to the reporting requirements of California Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986). We are conforming to the regulation by reporting the existence, or lack thereof, of ingredients deemed reportable by the above mentioned regulations via a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), in Section 15 "Regulatory Information." Ingredients from Natural Food Sources (NFS) are exempt from reporting in accordance with Title 27, § 25501(a).
